Kudos to Aamir Khan

for standing up to the BJP thugs in Gujarat who have imposed an unofficial ban on the movie "Fanaa". BTW, a while ago I read in "Himal" that after watching Lagaan Advani had requested Khan to campaign for the BJP in the Uttar Pradesh elections and that Khan had refused.

update:

I realised that I misspelt Khan's name. I really like two songs from Fanaa "Chand Sifarish" and "Mere Hath Mein"

He is one of my favourite Hindi film actors.I liked him in "Earth", the scene where train comes loaded with dead bodies and you look at his face.

The one public statement that he made before was about the Gujarat massacre. No, I haven't watched Rang De but I am thinking of going to watch Fanaa just to make a point.

I was listening today to a podcast interview with Amir Mohammed, the Malaysian filmmaker whose movie has been just banned in Malaysia. He joked that the banning was part of his carefully orchestrated publicity plan for the movie. This ban may be just what Fanaa needed...
